Belmares Law, PLLC is proud to announce the addition of a new attorney and introduction of a new practice area to the firm. We are excited to welcome Jacob R. McElyea to the team. Jacob shares the firm’s commitment to excellence in the courtroom, where it matters most.
Jacob will join Belmares Law, PLLC in mid-May 2020, focusing primarily in Family Law and Criminal Defense. Jacob’s goals are to represent his clients diligently and with integrity, while also giving back to his community.
Jacob most recently served as a magistrate judge for the Dickson County General Sessions Court. He brings the experience of making judicial determinations of probable cause, to his legal practice.
Jacob is a life-long resident of Dickson County and graduated from Dickson County High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, while also playing four years of collegiate soccer for the Cumberland Bulldogs. Jacob earned his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, FL where he received Deans’ List recognition and Pro Bono Honors. While in law school, Jacob worked with the Guardian Ad Litem Program in Jacksonville, Florida where he assisted in representing abused, abandoned, and neglected children. He also worked with Mowrey, Shoemaker, and Beardsley, a private law firm in St. Augustine, Florida where he primarily focused on the areas of Criminal Defense and Family Law.
